Your Trusted Guide to the Real Japan
Hi, I’m Shania.
If you’ve ever felt that travel guides only show you the "postcard" version of Japan, you’re in the right place. My mission is to pull back the curtain and show you the IRL (In Real Life) Experience—the raw, beautiful, and sometimes complex reality of navigating this country.
The "In Real Life" Difference
I don’t just visit Japan; I live here. Originally from the Philippines, I moved to Japan when I was 19. Now, at 23 years old and with 4 years of residency under my belt, I’ve moved past the "honeymoon phase" of a tourist and into the deep, nuanced reality of daily life.
English is my second language, but my first-hand experience in Japan speaks for itself. Navigating a new culture and language from a young age has taught me exactly what it takes to survive and thrive here.
My approach is built on two core principles:
1. Honesty Above All: I skip the viral trends and "aesthetic-only" spots. If a place is overhyped or a route is confusing, I’ll tell you exactly how it is.
2. Field-Tested Data: My guides aren't based on what I read online. They are based on my own boots-on-the-ground observations, current local data, and four years of personal trial and error.
Why I Do This?
Japan is a country of layers. To truly experience it, you need more than a map—you need context. Whether it's decoding local etiquette, finding the best "hidden" neighborhood gems, or understanding the data behind travel costs, I’m here to share the expertise I’ve gained from my years of living here.
"My focus is to provide you with honest, field-tested insights so you can navigate Japan not just as a visitor, but with the confidence of a local."
